Growing Instructions

Start Lacinato Kale seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost date or sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in rich, well-draining soil. Space plants 12–18 inches apart in rows 18–24 inches apart. Kale thrives in full sun but can tolerate partial shade, especially in warmer climates. Keep soil consistently moist to maintain tender leaves. Harvest leaves from the bottom up when they are about 10–12 inches long. Frost improves flavor, making this variety particularly well-suited for fall and winter gardening.
