Growing Instructions

Direct-sow Red Swiss Chard seeds outdoors in early spring, or in late summer for a fall crop. Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and space them 12–18 inches apart, as plants will grow large. Swiss chard prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade, especially in warmer climates. Keep the soil consistently moist to prevent bolting and to promote healthy, tender leaves. Red Swiss Chard is drought-tolerant once established, but regular watering ensures optimal growth and vibrant color. Harvest leaves as needed, starting from the outer stems to encourage continued growth. For baby greens, harvest when leaves are young and tender.
