Growing Instructions
Start Waltham 29 Broccoli seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix, maintaining a temperature of 60–70°F. Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are 4–6 inches tall and the soil temperature has reached at least 50°F. Space plants 18–24 inches apart in rows 24–36 inches apart. Broccoli thrives in full sun but can tolerate partial shade, especially in warmer climates. Keep soil consistently moist and apply mulch to retain moisture and reduce weeds. Harvest the central head when it reaches 4–6 inches in diameter. Cut the main head with a sharp knife to encourage side shoots for extended harvesting.
